Satluj to Reach Audiences Through Gurudwara Screenings Across 5 States

Satluj Diljit Dosanjh film to be screened at Gurudwaras across 5 states after OTT removal?

Diljit Dosanjh’s controversial film Satluj continues to make headlines after being removed from an OTT platform in India just two days after its digital release. While the movie remains unavailable for streaming in the country, several Sikh religious and community organisations have reportedly stepped forward to ensure audiences can still watch the film through public screenings.

According to reports, screenings of Satluj have already begun at Gurudwaras and community venues in Punjab, with plans to expand the initiative across Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Organisers say the objective is to educate younger generations about the life and legacy of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, whose story inspired the film.

The campaign has reportedly started in districts such as Moga, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot, where free screenings have attracted local residents. Community leaders have indicated that more Gurudwaras, educational institutions, and public venues may join the initiative in the coming days.

Satluj, previously titled Punjab 95, stars Diljit Dosanjh as Jaswant Singh Khalra. The film faced a prolonged certification process before finally making its digital debut. However, it was removed from streaming in India within 48 hours of its release, sparking widespread debate over censorship and freedom of expression. The streaming platform has reportedly been exploring legal options regarding the film’s availability.

Following the OTT removal, Diljit Dosanjh expressed disappointment and encouraged audiences to support the film through legitimate means whenever possible. The controversy has also drawn reactions from several filmmakers, actors, politicians, and public figures, many of whom have called for the film to be made accessible again.
