Stranger Things: Tales From 85 Season 2 Trailer Unveils a New Supernatural Mystery
Netflix has released a brand-new trailer for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2, bringing the animated Stranger Things spin-off back to Hawkins for another supernatural adventure.
The second season is scheduled to premiere on September 17, 2026, with eight half-hour episodes. The new story picks up directly after the events of the first season and introduces another mysterious threat for the Hawkins Investigators Club to solve.
A New Mystery Arrives in Hawkins
The trailer shows Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Max and Nikki facing a strange new paranormal threat. After the events of Season 1, the group hopes that Hawkins can finally experience some peace. However, mysterious supernatural activity soon begins appearing around the town.
The Hawkins Investigators Club once again finds itself at the centre of the mystery. Dustin and his friends attempt to understand what is happening while strange creatures and ghostly phenomena create a new danger.
The new season also appears to explore areas of Hawkins that have not previously received much attention, including a mysterious mine that could become an important location in the story.
The Return of the Animated Hawkins Gang
The main animated characters return for Season 2, including Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and Max. Nikki also returns as an important member of the Hawkins Investigators Club.
The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin and Benjamin Plessala as Will. Odessa A’zion also returns as Nikki.
From the Upside Down to a Ghostly Threat
Season 1 focused heavily on strange creatures and the connection between Hawkins and the Upside Down. The new trailer suggests that Season 2 will expand the supernatural side of the animated series.
The story appears to move beyond a simple monster investigation, with the characters encountering ghostly activity and unexplained phenomena around Hawkins.
The ending of Season 1 also left the door open for a new chapter after the defeat of the Horde Queen. The Season 2 trailer suggests that the consequences of those events are far from over.
A Bigger Animated Adventure
The animated format allows the creators to explore the Stranger Things universe in ways that would be more difficult or expensive in live action. The production team has previously discussed using animation to create more ambitious camera movements, environments and supernatural sequences.
The series also draws inspiration from classic adventure and genre filmmaking, giving the new season a distinctive animated style while maintaining the mystery and nostalgia associated with Stranger Things.
Season 2 Release Date
Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2 will premiere on September 17, 2026. Unlike the first season, which contained 10 episodes, the second season will feature eight episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long.
The first season premiered in April 2026 and established the animated series as a separate adventure within the Stranger Things universe. Season 2 now looks set to expand that story with a fresh supernatural mystery.
What the Trailer Means for Fans
The new trailer makes it clear that Hawkins is not going back to normal anytime soon. The familiar group of young investigators is once again forced to confront strange events while attempting to discover the truth behind the latest threat.
