Rajpal Yadav Told to Pay ₹2 Crore by October 13 in Case

Rajpal Yadav Ordered to Deposit ₹2 Crore by October 13

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has received a major direction from the Supreme Court in connection with a long-running cheque-bounce case related to his 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata. The court has directed him to deposit ₹2 crore by October 13.

During the hearing, Rajpal Yadav appeared before the Supreme Court and submitted a ₹1.15 crore demand draft. His lawyer informed the court that the remaining ₹85 lakh would be arranged through a prospective buyer of the actor’s property.

Supreme Court Gives October 13 Deadline

The Supreme Court has given Rajpal Yadav a deadline of October 13 to complete the ₹2 crore payment. The payment is part of the financial dispute involving the production and financing of Ata Pata Laapata.

The actor has been challenging a three-month imprisonment sentence imposed by the Delhi High Court in connection with the case.

Court Warns About Possible Sentence Increase

During the proceedings, the Supreme Court also warned that the sentence could potentially be enhanced. The court made it clear that compliance with its payment direction would be important as the legal proceedings continue.

The case has been going on for several years and involves allegations related to dishonoured cheques and unpaid dues connected with the film.

Dispute Linked to ‘Ata Pata Laapata’

The dispute reportedly began after Rajpal Yadav received funding connected with Ata Pata Laapata. Several cheques issued during the repayment process were allegedly dishonoured, eventually leading to criminal proceedings.

The broader financial dispute has been reported as involving around ₹9 crore, although the Supreme Court’s latest direction specifically concerns the ₹2 crore payment.

Rajpal Yadav has previously spoken about the financial losses associated with the film. The actor has maintained respect for the judicial process and said that he would accept the court’s decision.
