Moon Knight Returns to Disney+ in 2028, But Not With Season 2
Marvel fans may have a new reason to look forward to 2028, as Moon Knight is expected to return to the Disney+ platform through an animated project rather than a second season of his live-action series. The character, played by Oscar Isaac in the original show, has become a fan favourite because of his mysterious background, supernatural powers and connection to Egyptian mythology.
Moon Knight Expected Return in 2028
Moon Knight first appeared in his own Marvel series in 2022. The story followed Marc Spector, a former mercenary who becomes connected to Khonshu, the Egyptian moon god. The series also introduced Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, different identities associated with Marc.
The show’s combination of psychological drama, action and Egyptian mythology helped distinguish it from other Marvel superhero projects. Since the first season ended, fans have continued to hope for another chapter in Moon Knight’s story.
However, his reported 2028 return is connected to an animated Marvel project rather than a confirmed second season of the original series.
Marvel Zombies The Fist of Khonshu
The upcoming animated project, titled Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu, is associated with Moon Knight and Marvel’s zombie-themed alternate universe.
Marvel Zombies explores a darker version of the superhero world in which familiar heroes and villains face a terrifying zombie outbreak. The concept allows Marvel to explore different versions of its characters outside the main Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline.
The title The Fist of Khonshu refers to Moon Knight’s identity as the champion of the Egyptian god Khonshu. The project could bring the character into a darker animated adventure, although its complete storyline and character details have not been revealed.
Will Oscar Isaac Return?
Oscar Isaac portrayed Marc Spector, Steven Grant and Jake Lockley in the original Moon Knight series. His performance was an important part of the show’s identity, with each character displaying a different personality and perspective.
At present, his participation in the reported 2028 animated project has not been confirmed. Fans will need to wait for an official casting announcement to learn whether he will return as the character’s voice.
Similarly, Marvel has not confirmed a second season of the live-action series. The animated project should therefore be viewed as a separate development rather than confirmation of a direct continuation.
Why Is Moon Knight Season 2 Still Uncertain?
The first season introduced several mysteries that could support future stories, including Marc’s relationship with Khonshu and the emergence of Jake Lockley. These unresolved elements have encouraged fans to ask for another season.
Nevertheless, interest from viewers does not automatically mean that Marvel has approved a sequel. The studio has not announced an official release date or production schedule for Moon Knight Season 2.
An appearance in an animated project could give the character another opportunity to feature in Marvel’s wider storytelling plans without immediately continuing the original live-action series.
What Can Marvel Fans Expect in 2028?
If the reported plans proceed, Moon Knight’s appearance in Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu will offer a different experience from his Disney+ live-action debut. Animation could allow Marvel to explore more unusual action sequences, alternate-universe conflicts and supernatural elements.
However, the exact release date, complete cast, storyline and relationship to other Marvel Zombies projects remain subject to official announcements.
Conclusion
Moon Knight expected return to Disney+ in 2028 has generated interest among Marvel fans, particularly those waiting to see more of Marc Spector and his different identities. The reported animated project, Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu, could bring the superhero back in a darker setting.
