Ramayana Receives Mixed Reviews After Los Angeles Premiere

Despite its strong advance booking performance, Ramayana: Part 1 has received mixed reactions from international audiences following its premiere at the Academy Museum’s David Geffen Theatre in Los Angeles on October 27.

Several early viewers praised the film’s ambitious scale, visual effects and performances. Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama and Yash’s performance as Ravana received positive attention from some viewers.

However, certain aspects of the film also faced criticism. Some reviewers expressed concerns about the storytelling, pacing and music. The lengthy action sequences and slower second half were also among the points discussed in early reviews.

International publications offered varied assessments. Screen Rant appreciated the film’s technical ambition, while IGN criticised its execution and gave it a rating of 4 out of 10. IndieWire awarded the film a B grade.

The mixed reviews have not significantly slowed the film’s domestic advance booking momentum so far.
