  • Parents: Sukumaran and Mallika Sukumaran – both were noted actors.

Education

He studied in various schools in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, including Sainik School Kazhakoottam and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He began a bachelor’s program in Information Technology in Tasmania, Australia, but left to pursue acting.


Acting Career

  • Debut Film: Nandanam (2002, Malayalam).
  • Works in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema.
  • Became the youngest actor to win the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for Vaasthavam (2006).
  • Known for acclaimed performances in films such as Classmates, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Lucifer, Ayalum Njanum Thammil, Celluloid, and the pan-Indian hit Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.

Direction & Production

  • Co-founded August Cinema in 2012.
  • Later launched Prithviraj Productions.
  • Made a successful directorial debut with the blockbuster Lucifer (2019).

Awards & Recognition

  • Multiple Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actor (Vaasthavam, Celluloid, Ayalum Njanum Thammil, The Goat Life).
  • Won the National Film Award as a producer for Indian Rupee (Best Feature Film in Malayalam).

Personal Life

  • Married Supriya Menon, former BBC journalist, on 25 April 2011.
  • They have a daughter, Alankrita, born in 2014.
