Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Box Office Prediction Day 1

After the success of films like Dream Girl 2 and Thamma, Ayushmann Khurrana is now aiming to continue his strong box office momentum with Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the romantic comedy is set to release on May 15, 2026, and trade analysts believe it could emerge as another solid urban comedy success for the actor.

The film acts as a spiritual follow-up to the 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh, but this time the makers have introduced a fresh cast and a completely new storyline. Alongside Ayushmann, the movie stars Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles. The trailer and songs have generated decent buzz, especially among multiplex and urban audiences.

As per early trade estimates, the film is expected to open in the range of ₹4 crore to ₹8 crore net on Day 1 in India. Conservative predictions suggest a ₹4–5 crore start, while more optimistic projections indicate that strong spot bookings and positive word of mouth could push it closer to ₹7–8 crore.

One of the biggest advantages for the film is Ayushmann’s recent comeback phase. After facing a slowdown post-pandemic, the actor regained his footing with audience-friendly entertainers. Thamma reportedly crossed the ₹100 crore mark worldwide, re-establishing him as a dependable name in the comedy genre.

However, the film does face a few challenges. Unlike the original 2019 version that starred Kartik Aaryan, this installment doesn’t carry the same level of franchise recall among mass audiences. Trade experts believe its performance will heavily depend on initial audience reactions and how well the humor connects in theatres.

The film also sparked some debate online, with a section of viewers accusing the trailer of “normalising infidelity.” Addressing the criticism, Ayushmann clarified that the film is a “comedy of errors” and not meant to glorify cheating. Director Mudassar Aziz also defended the narrative, stating that his films aim to balance humor with emotional depth and strong character arcs.

If the film manages to click with audiences over the opening weekend, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has the potential to become another profitable comedy entertainer and further strengthen Ayushmann Khurrana’s box office comeback in 2026.
