Ajay Devgn-Kajol Juhu Bungalow Gets BMC Stop-Work Notice Over Proposed Salon and Spa
Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s Juhu bungalow has reportedly become the centre of a civic dispute after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a stop-work notice concerning work linked to a proposed salon and spa at the property. The action reportedly came after residents of the housing society raised objections regarding the proposed commercial activity.
The bungalow, located in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu area, is reportedly spread across around 7,802 square feet. According to reports, the property was proposed to be used for a salon and spa, prompting concerns among residents about increased commercial activity in what is primarily a residential neighbourhood.
Residents Raise Objections
Residents reportedly approached civic authorities after noticing work connected with the proposed salon and spa. Their concerns are said to include increased customer movement, parking requirements, security arrangements and possible noise in the neighbourhood.
Residents have also reportedly expressed concerns that regular visitors to a commercial establishment could put additional pressure on the area’s internal roads and parking facilities.
The proposed salon and spa is reportedly associated with Florian Hurel Salons Pvt Ltd. Reports have also stated that the bungalow was taken on a registered five-year leave-and-licence agreement, with the monthly rent reportedly starting at around ₹16 lakh during the first year and increasing subsequently.
BMC Issues Stop-Work Notice
Following the complaint, officials from the BMC’s K-West ward reportedly sought documents concerning the proposed commercial use of the property.
According to reports, the civic authorities said the relevant permission for commercial activity had not been produced when requested. The BMC subsequently issued a stop-work notice concerning the ongoing work.
The notice does not necessarily mean that the proposed salon and spa has been permanently rejected. The issue is expected to depend on the documents and permissions submitted by the property owners and the assessment carried out by the civic authorities.
Devgn Camp Says Permissions Have Been Obtained
The Devgn camp has reportedly disputed the suggestion that the proposed salon and spa is operating without the necessary approvals.
A person familiar with the actor’s side said that the requisite permissions and approvals from the concerned authorities had already been obtained for the proposed use of the premises.
This has resulted in two different positions in the ongoing matter. While the BMC has sought documentation relating to the commercial use of the property, the Devgn camp maintains that the necessary permissions have already been secured.
What Happens Next?
The Devgn side is reportedly expected to submit the relevant documents and respond to the BMC notice. Civic authorities will then examine whether the permissions cover the proposed commercial activity and whether the work carried out at the property complies with applicable regulations.
