Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his bold opinions, has officially left Bollywood and shifted to South India. In a recent interview with The Hindu, he confirmed that he has relocated, saying the Hindi film industry has become “too toxic” and is now focused only on unrealistic box office targets rather than creativity.
Why Did Anurag Kashyap Leave Bollywood?
For months, Kashyap had hinted at his plans to move away from Mumbai and Bollywood. Now, it is official. The filmmaker has already paid rent for his new home in South India, though he has not disclosed the exact city. Reports suggest he has settled in Bengaluru.
Speaking about his decision, he said, “I’ve left Mumbai. I want to stay away from film people. The industry has become too toxic. Everyone is chasing unrealistic targets, trying to make the next ₹500 or ₹800 crore film. The creative atmosphere is gone.”
Impact of His Move
Kashyap also revealed that relocating has improved his overall well-being. He shared that his physical, mental, and emotional health have improved since stepping away from the high-pressure environment of Bollywood.
Anurag Kashyap’s Future in the South Film Industry
