New Poster & Official Release Date
A brand-new, intense warrior-look poster featuring Rishab Shetty—shown with an axe, shield, tribal gear, and a fiery backdrop—was released today, July 7, on his birthday. The film is confirmed to release on October 2, 2025, globally.
The production house has confirmed the release date remains firm, dismissing any speculation about delays.
Massive Scale Action & Mythical Depth
The film is being shot on a massive scale. One war sequence alone took over 50 days to film on a 25-acre set, involving more than 500 professional fighters and 3,000 extras. Top Indian and international stunt coordinators are working on the film, including one who worked on RRR.
The storyline explores the spiritual origins of Panjurli and Guliga, diving deeper into the rich mythology first introduced in the original Kantara.
On-Set Incidents & Clarifications
Production has been marred by a few tragic events:
- Actor Rakesh Poojary passed away due to cardiac arrest in May 2025.
- Kalabhavan Niju, another cast member, died of a heart attack on June 12, 2025.
- Junior artist MF Kapil drowned in a river. The team clarified that his death was not related to the film shoot.
In addition, there were rumors of a boat accident involving Rishab Shetty and 30 crew members. The team has publicly denied these claims, clarifying that the boat was unmanned and the incident involved a backdrop structure, not a safety failure.
What This Means
Despite emotional and logistical challenges, the filmmakers remain committed to their vision.
Kantara: Chapter 1 promises high production value, a sweeping mythological arc, and a cinematic experience designed for both pan-India and global audiences.
