Pushpa 2 Dominates Box Office While Baby John Struggles
Sukumar’s directorial masterpiece, Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, has achieved an extraordinary milestone at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film has collected a staggering ₹1156.85 crore net in India by the end of its fourth weekend. Released on December 5, the movie continues its phenomenal run, breaking records and outperforming all competitors.
On the other hand, Varun Dhawan’s action thriller Baby John, which hit theatres during the Christmas weekend, has failed to make a mark. Despite the holiday release, the film couldn’t generate momentum at the box office, struggling to cross ₹30 crore after its extended five-day opening weekend.
Baby John Falls Short
The Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh starrer opened to a lukewarm response, earning ₹11.24 crore on its first day. Unfortunately, the film saw a sharp decline in collections, managing only ₹4.75 crore on its second day and an additional ₹4.75 crore on Sunday, as per Sacnilk. The film’s underwhelming storyline and weak audience reception contributed to its disappointing performance.
Pushpa 2: The Rule Reigns Supreme
In stark contrast, Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate. On its fourth Sunday alone, the film collected ₹15.5 crore net in India. Its total earnings have soared to ₹1156.85 crore in just 25 days. The Allu Arjun starrer recorded a 42% jump in collections on Saturday, bringing in ₹12.5 crore, further cementing its position as a box office juggernaut.
The film has already surpassed expectations and is aiming to achieve ₹750 crore in its Hindi version alone. With no significant competition at the Hindi box office until Republic Day 2025, Pushpa 2: The Rule has emerged as the top contender, beating out competitors like Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2.
The unparalleled success of Pushpa 2 showcases its massive fan following and Sukumar’s storytelling prowess, solidifying it as a cinematic phenomenon in Indian film history.
