Rohit Shetty Confirms Simmba 2 and Sooryavanshi Sequel, Plans Spin-Offs for Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff
Popular Bollywood director Rohit Shetty has shared exciting updates about his expanding cop universe. Known for delivering blockbuster films like Chennai Express, Golmaal series, Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi, Shetty is now ready to take his much-loved action universe to the next level.
In a recent interview with Game Changers, the director spoke about the journey of his cop universe and revealed what fans can expect in the near future.
Simmba 2 and More Films on the Way
Rohit Shetty confirmed that Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh, will have a sequel. He also mentioned that Sooryavanshi, which featured Akshay Kumar, will continue with another chapter. “Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi,” he said, adding that more characters and stories will be introduced in the cop universe.
He explained that the idea of building this shared universe started when they were working on Simmba and planning Sooryavanshi. What began with Singham has now grown into a larger franchise with multiple films and characters.
Deepika and Tiger to Get Their Own Stories
The director also spoke about two newer members of his cop universe—Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff. Both actors appeared in his latest film Singham Again, which released in 2024 and featured an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff.
Rohit made it clear that Deepika and Tiger’s roles are not just brief cameos. “It’s not just that they are coming for 10-15 minutes and after that they don’t have work,” he said. Their characters will be explored further in individual spin-off films, giving them more screen time and story development.
The Vision Behind the Cop Universe
Rohit Shetty revealed that the idea for a multi-film universe came about in 2019, during the shooting of Sooryavanshi. The team had already planned to introduce multiple heroes and eventually connect their stories in films like Singham Again.
The success of this approach has made the Shetty Cop Universe one of the biggest action franchises in Bollywood. With several films lined up and new characters being introduced, fans can expect more thrilling stories and high-octane action in the years to come.
