Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Deva’ Gears Up for a Big Release with Strong Advance Bookings
Shahid Kapoor is all set to return to the big screen with his highly anticipated action thriller, Deva. With advance bookings opening on January 29, the film has already gained momentum, selling approximately 4,500 tickets in the top three national multiplex chains—PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis—for its release day. While the initial booking pace was slow, trade analysts expect numbers to pick up significantly by Thursday, potentially reaching 15,000 to 25,000 tickets for day one.
Aiming for a Strong Box Office Opening
Featuring Pooja Hegde alongside Shahid Kapoor, Deva is set against the vibrant yet gritty backdrop of Mumbai, promising an action-packed cinematic experience. According to industry reports, the film is expected to rake in an opening collection of around Rs 5 to Rs 6 crore at the Indian box office. However, the final figures will depend on multiple factors, including spot bookings and walk-in audiences on the day of release.
One of the biggest challenges for Deva will be the competition it faces from Sky Force, which continues to perform well at the box office. Despite this, Shahid Kapoor’s strong fan base and the film’s action-thriller appeal could drive significant footfalls.
Shahid Kapoor on Comparisons with ‘Kabir Singh’
Since the release of Deva’s gripping trailer, many viewers have drawn parallels between this film and Kabir Singh, one of Shahid Kapoor’s biggest blockbusters. However, the actor has been quick to clarify that Deva stands apart. Speaking at a recent press conference, Shahid stated, “It’s an aggressive character, but Deva is very much its own story. There’s no Kabir Singh in it. People often compare my roles, like they did with Udta Punjab, but Deva is special in its own way.”
