Mirzapur: The Movie Everything You Need to Know
Mirzapur: The Movie brings the hugely popular crime drama franchise from streaming to the big screen for the first time. Produced by Excel Entertainment in association with Amazon MGM Studios, the film is designed as a cinematic continuation of the Mirzapur universe, featuring fan-favourite characters and an action-packed story filled with revenge, politics and power struggles.
The film stars Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand “Kaleen Bhaiya” Tripathi, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee as Compounder and Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi. The return of Divyenndu as Munna has become one of the biggest talking points among fans, although the makers have kept details about his role under wraps.
The story is expected to continue the intense rivalry for control of Mirzapur after the events of the web series. Guddu Pandit remains determined to strengthen his hold over the throne, while Kaleen Bhaiya looks to reclaim his empire. New betrayals, bloody confrontations and political twists are expected as old enemies return and fresh alliances are formed. The makers have not revealed the complete plot, keeping key surprises hidden until release.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner. It retains the gritty tone, dark humour and high-stakes action that made the series one of India’s most successful crime dramas.
The makers have confirmed that Mirzapur: The Movie is scheduled to release in theatres in 2026. While an exact release date has not yet been announced, the film is expected to connect the events of the web series with the next chapter of the Mirzapur franchise.
