Urvashi Rautela Reacts to Controversy Over ‘Dabidi Dibidi’ Song with Balakrishna

Urvashi Rautela Responds to ‘Dabidi Dibidi’ Controversy: ‘Didn’t Expect This Reaction’

Urvashi Rautela has finally broken her silence on the controversy surrounding her song Dabidi Dibidi from the Telugu film Daaku Maharaj. The dance number, featuring her alongside veteran actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, has been widely criticized for its choreography, with netizens calling it “crass” and “vulgar”. Many took to social media to mock the dance steps, particularly sequences where Balakrishna is seen hitting Urvashi’s belly button and lifting her by her outfit.

Addressing the backlash in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Urvashi stated that the song was created specifically for Balakrishna’s fans, and its lyrics and dance moves were designed to cater to their expectations. She admitted that while rehearsals went smoothly, the team did not anticipate the strong negative reactions.

“When you look at my rehearsal clips, everything went really well. It was just like any other song choreography. I was working with Shekar Master for the fourth time, so there was no discomfort. Everything was planned and under control during rehearsals. But honestly, everything happened so suddenly that it’s been hard to assess why people are reacting this way,” she said.

Urvashi expressed her surprise over the way the audience perceived the song. “We never expected people to talk about it in this manner. As a team, we truly didn’t anticipate this reaction,” she added.

The song, composed by S Thaman, features Urvashi dressed in a crop top and skirt while performing energetic dance moves. However, it was Balakrishna’s dance steps that sparked outrage, with many social media users criticizing them as inappropriate. Clips from the song quickly went viral, leading to a heated debate over the creative choices made for the music video.

Meanwhile, Daaku Maharaj, made on a reported budget of ₹100 crore, continues to perform at the box office despite the controversy. Whether the backlash will impact its long-term success remains to be seen. Also Read:- Saif Ali Khan Attacked, Urvashi Rautela Apologises for Comments
