Fans eagerly waiting for the trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated epic Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, were left disappointed after the makers unexpectedly postponed its global release just hours before its scheduled unveiling on July 24.
The trailer was originally set to debut during the San Diego Comic-Con 2026 panel and release online worldwide shortly afterward. However, producer Namit Malhotra announced a last-minute change, confirming that the trailer would now be launched on a later date.
Why Was the Trailer Delayed?
According to Namit Malhotra, the postponement was made because Ramayana has entered into a global distribution partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The makers decided to align the trailer launch with this major international rollout, believing it would give the film a much larger worldwide platform.
In his statement, Malhotra said that his dream of taking Ramayana to audiences across the world had become a reality with the Sony partnership, and therefore the team would unveil the trailer globally at a later date.

Soon after the announcement, social media was flooded with speculation that the postponement was linked to ongoing student protests in India. However, the filmmakers have not officially cited the protests as the reason. Their official explanation remains the new global distribution strategy with Sony Pictures.
