Sunjay Kapur’s Last Rites Delayed Amid Citizenship Issue

Sunjay Kapur’s Final Rites Delayed Due to Citizenship Complications; Family Begins Repatriation Process

The final rites of Sunjay Kapur, ex-husband of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, have been delayed due to legal complications stemming from his U.S. citizenship. The industrialist and renowned polo enthusiast tragically passed away on Thursday in London at the age of 53 after suffering a fatal allergic reaction when a bee entered his mouth during a match, causing an abrupt and severe shock.

Sunjay, who was a well-known face in India’s business and sports circles, was chairman of the automotive components manufacturer Sona Comstar Ltd. His love for fast machines and horses made him a fixture at high-profile events — whether it was a motor rally or a polo match — and earned him numerous accolades for his achievements.

He first made headlines in 2003 when he married Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor in a grand ceremony in Delhi. The couple had two children together — a daughter, Samaira, born in 2005, and a son, Kiaan, who arrived in 2011. After their marriage fell into trouble, Karisma and Sunjay legally separated in 2014 and finalized their divorce in 2016. Karisma subsequently raised their children as a single parent, supported by her close-knit family.

Sunjay later fell in love again and married Priya Sachdev, a successful model and entrepreneur, in a private ceremony in Delhi in 2017. The couple has a young son, Azarias Kapur. Sunjay and Priya first met in New York and kept their relationship away from the media’s glare, tying the knot after nearly 5 years of dating.

As per reports, Sunjay’s body is currently in London and undergoing postmortem procedures. His father-in-law, Ashok Sachdev, confirmed to NDTV that the process of repatriating Sunjay’s body to Delhi is underway. “The postmortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought back home for the last rites,” Sachdev stated.

Sunjay’s last social media post, a motivational quote, seemed to reflect his forward-looking approach to life. “Progress demands bold choices, not perfect conditions. Your time on earth is limited. Leave the ‘what ifs’ to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the ‘why nots’.”

As the news of Sunjay’s untimely death spread, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora were all seen offering their condolences to Karisma and her family during this profoundly difficult time. Also :- Bollywood Unites in Grief After Air India Plane Crash in Ahmedabad
